The Mathematics department follow a Maths Mastery curriculum with a focus on deepening understanding and problem solving at the heart of all lessons allowing students to investigate and explore Mathematics. These opportunities continue into our sixth form where we teach A-Levels in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics. STEM activities are encouraged within the Academy and a program of visiting experts is in place to support this.
There are colleagues within the Mathematics faculty who are lead teachers and trained coaches who support and encourage the personal development and training of other staff. We also have the support of a network wide Mathematics specialist coach/mentor who works closely in the team to support personal development and student outcomes. We have an “open door” lesson policy which ensures you receive support and we promote peer-to-peer sharing of practice, all designed to help you be the best teacher you can be.
