Primary Teacher

The Role

We are looking to recruit a class teacher to join the team at Ark John Archer.  You will play the key role of a teacher within our committed team ensuring that our academy provides an excellent education for all our pupils.

Ark John Archer promotes a strong spirit of collaboration; we all support one another to flourish and develop our teaching and learning.  We use the mastery approach to teaching and learning, aiming for all pupils to have mastered a skill or concept before progressing to the next area of learning.

Here at Ark John Archer Primary Academy, we aspire for all of our pupils to reach their full potential both academically and socially and, with this in mind, aim to develop highly aspirational, emotionally literate and knowledgeable individuals who have a genuine passion for learning and a positive sense of identity. From Early Years to Year 6, our curriculum should build the foundations on which life-long learners and confident leaders of the future can grow.

Deep rooted within our vision is the need for pupils to be exposed to practical, creative, engaging and challenging opportunities that develop their natural curiosity to learn, broadens their understanding and ‘brings learning to life’. We believe that by working Together as One we can provide our pupils with the strong start to their journey in education that they need, and more importantly, deserve.

The Ark John Archer Curriculum is rooted in five key principles:

·       Knowledge rich and learning through enquiry

·       A holistic approach to learning

·       Inspiring joy for learning

·       Character curriculum

·       Parents as partners

Life at our School

Ark John Archer Primary Academy is a school that represents our local community, which due to its cultural diversity brings a wealth of opportunity to develop and meet our children’s academic and non-academic needs.  Our parent workshops enable families to understand more about specific topics, such as how we teach maths, or issues such as e-safety. Half-termly parent forums give parents and carers the opportunity to ask any questions and to have their say, and each term our well attended open mornings enable parents into the classroom to take part in their childrens learning.

Through our motto ‘Together as One”, we aim to educate the whole child in order for them to reach their potential. Pupil wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Every day we are committed to embracing our core values and we encourage everyone to be the best that they can possibly be, helping each other every step of the way.

You will be instrumental in our mission to provide every student a great education and real choices in life, regardless of their background.  A passionate practitioner, you will deliver high-quality, rigorous lessons that drive achievement and inspire a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

·       Set high expectations so that all students are inspired, motivated and challenged to reach their full potential and in doing so meet their progress and attainment targets

·       Plan and teach well-structured, differentiated lessons that are aligned to the agreed curriculum and cultivate every student’s intellectual curiosity

·       Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to ensure progress and outcomes

·       Manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment enabling students to focus on learning

·       Work collaboratively with both school and network colleagues as a committed team member, building successful, high performing teams

·       Participate actively throughout the network, by attending relevant meetings, and, as appropriate, delivering network-wide training and initiatives

·       Work with colleagues, students and families to develop a strong school community

·       Actively promote the safety and welfare of our children and young people

·       Ensure compliance with Arks data protection rules and procedures

·       Liaise with colleagues and external contacts at all levels of seniority with confidence, tact and diplomacy

·       Work with Ark Central and other academies in the Ark network, to establish good practice throughout the network, offering support where required
