Ark St Alban’s Academy is seeking an excellent maths teacher to make an immediate impact in its outstanding maths department. 

 

Our school is committed to addressing educational disadvantage. We consistently guide pupils to GCSE and A-Level outcomes which place our cohorts in the top 10% of schools nationally on many measures, including those for the progress of disadvantaged pupils. Our school serves pupils from central Birmingham. The percentage of our cohort eligible for the Pupil Premium is the seventh highest in the country. There are very few communities in the UK who need great teachers more than ours.

 

Teachers and leaders at Ark St Alban’s Academy are determined to prove that the background of a young person can be no impediment to their success. Our school prepares pupils to succeed at elite universities, with our alumni proudly representing our community at prestigious destinations including Cambridge University, Durham University and the London School of Economics.

In maths, our pupils make exceptional progress.  Last summer, more than three quarters of pupils achieved a grade four and more than half achieve a grade five in GCSE maths. At A-Level, maths in an increasingly popular choice with almost three quarters of pupils achieving at least a grade C at the end of their studies.  

 

We believe that success in a university preparatory curriculum is the best way to make sure that all of our pupils can make meaningful choices about their future when they leave us. As such, we teach an academically rigorous curriculum and provide pupils with both the pastoral support and the excellent teaching that they need in order to thrive.

The successful candidate will join a maths department full of specialists and expertise. It is an exceptional place to learn and grow as teacher of maths. In this role, the successful candidate will coordinate our rigorous and systematic approach to early intervention in maths. Coordinating approaches to baseline assessment and curriculum adaptations, as well as the work we do with a wide range of external partners and platforms.

 

We are seeking an excellent teacher to join our work to provide a transformational education for all of our pupils.

 Salary: Ark Main or Upper Pay Scale (£28,704 - £45,437), plus TLR2b £5,023
