At Ark Elvin Academy we are working hard to give all our pupils an excellent education and are looking for committed teachers and support staff to join us at this exciting stage in our school improvement journey. In June 2017 we came out of special measures and now our team of enthusiastic, high expectations staff are doing what it takes to rapidly improve our school and deliver the outstanding education our community needs and deserves.

We are committed to ensuring staff have the opportunity to refine and develop their practice in the classroom and develop their leadership skills, we have:

In recruiting for our PA to Principal we are seeking the following from applicants:

  • mission aligned and looking to join a rapidly improving school and make a real difference
  • a great communicator – who can confidently represent our school to a range of stake holders
  • computer literate – detailed understanding of Microsoft office and outlook calendar diary management
  • super organised and with attention  to detail

 

The successful candidate does not necessarily need to have had experience of working in a school but they do need to be excited about working in our context.  You will become part of a close knit professional community of enthusiastic colleagues who benefit from the training, guidance and support from both the Ark network, one of the country’s top performing school groups and our North London region of schools where we work closely with four schools; Ark John Keats Academy, King Solomon Academy, Ark Academy and Ark Burlington Danes Academy.

Job Description: PA to Principal

 

Salary                              Highly competitive

Contract:                          All year round

 

The Role

To provide a high standard of secretarial and administrative support to the Principal, enabling her to operate in a highly efficient manner.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

PA Support

·       To meet and greet the Principal’s visitors, displaying due courtesy and tact, to ensure that  visitors are welcomed into a friendly and professional environment

·       To maintain efficient and effective systems for filing and organising correspondence, in liaison with the Principal, ensuring discretion and respecting confidentiality

·       To support the principal in managing their diary and appointments

·       To produce letters, reports and documents, including confidential papers

·       To deal with all phone calls and personal enquiries efficiently, effectively and professionally

·       To arrange and assist with meetings as requested, including booking rooms, providing refreshments, preparation of materials and minute taking, in order to ensure their timeliness and smooth-running

·       To communicate and liaise with staff, students, parents, governors, ARK Schools staff, members of the local community and other external parties as appropriate

·       To actively promote the academy and liaise with outside agencies as necessary, representing the  Academy or ARK as appropriate

·       To maintain a presence around the school to ensure that the highest standards of behaviour and site-usage are upheld

·       To maintain data relevant to Principal’s reporting structures

 

General Administration

 

·       To organise the admin elements of key events in the academy calendar such as open evenings, parents evenings and awards evenings

·       To make maximum use of the academy’s developing information and communications technology, including the network for diary management and the effective management of data bases

·       To ensure effective liaison between admin and teaching staff.

 

Other

·       To undertake training and development relevant to the post and in line with the academy’s priorities

·       To undertake any other duties as directed by the principal.


 

Person Specification: PA to Principal

 

Qualification Criteria

·       Maths and English GCSE at grade C or above

·       Degree level qualification

 

Experience (preferable but not essential for the right candidate)

·       Experience of running effective administrative, ideally within a school setting

·       Experience of providing one-to-one PA support

·       Experience of a senior administrative role

·       Experience of diary management.

 

Personal characteristics

·       Genuine passion and a belief in the potential of every pupil

·       Flexible, highly organised and able to multi-task and prioritise work to meet deadlines

·       Helpful, approachable and positive nature and ability to stay calm and diplomatic under pressure

·       Able to take ownership of tasks and work with minimal supervision

·       Have exacting standards and a keen eye for detail

·       Keen to learn and further develop own skills

·       Exercises sound judgment, especially relating to confidentiality and discretion

·       Excellent interpersonal skills with children and adults.

 

Specific skills

·       Highly computer literate, with particular skill in using Microsoft Office

·       Able to write clearly and concisely and to produce and maintain documents and systems.

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills

·       Willing and able to learn and operate new IT systems and databases

·       Excellent administrative and organisational skills 

·       Understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion

·       Able to prioritise workload and hit deadlines.

 

Other

·       The post holder must be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils

·       Willingness to undertake training
