Ark John Keats Academy is a growing school currently in the process of setting up a brand new Sixth Form due to open in September 2019. Therefore, we are looking to recruit excellent staff to join our expanding team and be part of the exciting next phase of our development. 

We are an all-through school in the London Borough of Enfield. We have excellent transport links to enable easy access from central London and London fringe areas.  The academy will reach full capacity in 2020 with just under two thousand pupils.  The academy was judged outstanding in all areas in our Ofsted inspection of April 2015.

The posts involve one-to-one and small group teaching across a range of areas – reading, writing, maths, English language development and emotional development. There will be extensive training and staff will be deployed according to their skills and interests. As a growing school, we have a number of posts available. We are looking for candidates with the potential to be outstanding and would like to hear from both experienced practitioners and those new to the profession.

These posts are a wonderful opportunity to play a key role in enabling pupils in disadvantaged areas to access the highest quality education.

The Role

To support secondary pupils with literacy, numeracy or emotional needs.

To provide one-to-one and small group teaching across a range of areas – reading, writing, maths, English language development and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

·         To bring to the academy a passion for learning, belief in young people and a sense of dynamism and a ‘can do’ attitude

·         To actively promote academic achievement, the development of good character and the opportunities available for young people to enrich their lives through the opportunities presented by living in London

·         To support individuals and groups of pupils to help them make rapid academic progress

·         To deliver pre-planned lessons to support the development of grammar and reading or mathematics

·         To support pupils with special educational needs and English as an additional language

·         To support the running of the homework club and/or other extra-curricular activities.

·         To organise and run the breakfast club

·         To run two enrichment activities weekly (all staff run two as part of their timetable). Staff choose what they would like to run

·         To support academy events – music and drama performances, parent/open evenings and sports activities

·         To support the supervision of pupils at break, lunch and after school

·         Undertake other various responsibilities as directed by the Principal, Assistant Principal or Head of Inclusion and Wellbeing
