Become part of the aspirational, Ark Alexandra family and work alongside our dedicated team to spark a passion for learning in our young people which will last a lifetime and raise the expectations of a community. We believe that all our students can achieve excellence, and that they all deserve the very best education in order to secure their place at university or a career of their choice.

We welcome applications from enthusiastic teachers from any Science discipline whether newly qualified or experienced and will aim to work to the strengths of the successful candidate. At Ark Alexandra, we are committed to promoting flexible working and therefore will also consider flexible or part-time working for this position.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, supportive and hard-working Science department following the journey of Ark Helenswood and Ark William Parker, both previously single sex schools which have come together as one co-educational, Church of England school with a mixed sixth form provision in Hastings. Our Science department offers a combined science program to all students and triple science to the most able. This continues into our sixth form where we teach A-levels in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Psychology.

We have an “open door” lesson policy which ensures you receive support and we promote peer-to-peer sharing of practice, all designed to help you be the best teacher you can be. The Science department also has a specialist mentor who works closely with the team. Staff at our school work hard and we offer health benefits such as a subsidised gym membership with Freedom Leisure or if you prefer retail therapy, staff discounts via the Ark Rewards scheme.

As an Ark school, Ark Alexandra Academy is part of a network of 37 schools which has a wealth of experienced educators across the group. The development of our staff is one of our top priorities, at every level and in every role. You will have access to twice the number of training days as standard, all designed to meet the needs of our schools and our people. You will also have access to diverse career opportunities meaning you can carve out your own successful career in education, choosing the direction you want to take your career.

As the ideal candidate you will:

·        Be committed to raising attainment in a challenging classroom environment

·        Have a resilient character and a strong personal drive

·        Have an unwavering determination to work with students of all abilities

·        Be committed to continually improving classroom practice

·        A desire to deliver enrichment activities after school

·        Be committed to Ark’s ethos of high expectations and no excuses.
