High quality music education is unparalleled in its ability to stimulate
personal, emotional, and intellectual development, and motivate social
change. Given the right conditions, we
believe that every child can be a musician, and enjoy improved life chances as
a result.
Our mission is to ensure that every pupil in an Ark school is set-up to enjoy a life enriched by music and the many holistic benefits that brings. We want our young people to leave school with the ability to express themselves musically, as well as having developed resilience, empathy, and a rich understanding of the world around them.
Ark Music spans EYFS through to KS4 and engages just over 13,000 children per week across 26 schools. At primary level, we focus on three key areas:
- An integrated approach to curriculum development and teacher training which supports primary school teachers to deliver rigorous and inclusive music lessons
- Progressive instrumental and vocal learning for every child
- Weekly enrichment, regular sharing events and network ensembles
The Ark Schools music
programme is looking for an exceptional primary music specialist to join our
team and lead our primary music programme. This is an exciting role for someone
who wishes to combine programme management and leadership responsibilities whilst
keeping a close connection to the impact of their work by working directly with
schools and young musicians. You will join a diverse team of teachers and music
educators deeply committed to the transformative power of music education.
Building on work developed over the last eight years, you will shape and lead our primary music programme through its next phase of development so that it provides a truly excellent music education for every pupil in an Ark school.
This is a varied role which
requires a dynamic and inspiring music educator with a proven track record of excellent
teaching and developing diverse teams. If you’re a strong team player, a great
musician, and you hold a genuine desire to see every child receive a
life-changing music education regardless of their background, this could be the
role for you!
The role comprises four core areas of delivery:
- Programme leadership
- Curriculum development, teacher training and teaching
- Team management
- Supporting wider organisational objectives
About you:
- An expert classroom practitioner with a genuine passion and belief in the potential of every child, regardless of their background
- Experienced in leading and developing a high-quality music provision (for example in a school, music service/hub, Arts charity)
- Enthusiastic with a passion for music and the development of a music entitlement for every child
- Demonstrable experience of training and coaching adults and of developing strong, coherent teams
How to apply
While this vacancy is advertised as a fixed term contract,
we are looking for someone who’s keen to stay for the long term, and we will be
