We are looking to recruit a PE Teacher for a fixed term maternity cover period to:
· Plan and teach well-structured lessons that are aligned to the agreed curriculum and teach students the importance of physical activity while developing motor and fitness skills
· Contribute to the promotion of an active, healthy lifestyle and any related school-wide initiatives
· Facilitate and support school and external sport events and competitions
PE at Charter Academy is run by a small but passionate team who strive to encourage student’s health, fitness and well-being. The department has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and we rely heavily on collaboration and mutual support. All planning, lessons and resources are shared amongst the staff. Students who choose to study PE at KS4 follow a preparatory course in Year 9 which helps students consolidate some key subject areas prior to moving on to either the GCSE PE syllabus or the NCFE Health and Fitness course for years 10 and 11.
The PE curriculum for KS3 offers students a broad experience of different activities, making use of the academies facilities including 2 large indoor areas, fitness suite, swimming pool and outdoor areas.
Before joining Ark in 2009, just 21% of students achieved 5 A*-C at GCSE (including English and maths), the success rate now sits at 83%. This would not have been possible without great teachers, which is why we offer the best training and support for all of our staff at every stage of their career.
