Job Description: Nursery Manager
Reports to: Headteacher
Start date: ASAP
Grade: Ark
Support Scale 7 £24,334 (pay award pending)
The Role
To lead and provide an exceptionally high standard of childcare for children within a stimulating and friendly environment that is physically and emotionally secure. Children's welfare must be of paramount importance.
Key Responsibilities
To actively promote the Equality Policy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place
To maintain awareness of and commitment to the School’s Equality Policy in relation to both employment and service delivery
To maintain full regulatory and legislative approval for the nursery, including meeting Ofsted, Environment Health and Health & Safety requirements.
At the discretion of the Head Teacher, such other activities as may from time to time be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above
To work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives and targets
To participate in Employee Development schemes
Key Tasks
· Keep up to date and comply with legislation
· Direct and co-ordinate nursery staff to ensure national and Nursery policies/procedures, current legislation, the curriculum and registration requirements are met
· Liaise and collaborate with external agencies
· Ensure standards of provision within the Nursery rooms are of a consistently exceptional standard
· Provide weekly professional development to all staff, alongside regular coaching visits to continuously improve and develop pedagogy and practice
· Advise and assist the Headteacher
· Regularly review nursery policies and procedures
· Manage the nursery as a business, including an active role in financial planning and monitoring, along with implementing sales and marketing plans to achieve income and occupancy targets
· In conjunction with the Headteacher and Regional Finance Officer; prepare, operate and monitor the budget. · Engage parents and the community in both the nursery and the wider community, developing our membership offer and supporting our objectives for the area
· Deal appropriately with complaints and issues from setting users as they arise
· Be responsible for fee income, grants, daily registration and allocation of places
· Monitor staff performance, provide training and carry out appraisals. Deal with day to day HR issues, disciplinary and capability matters in line with existing policy
· Preparing for Ofsted inspections and continue our drive to be Ofsted Outstanding
· Manage, recruit, train support and inspire an outstanding staff team able to meet the needs of all children in our fair and in accordance with safeguarding requirements

· Work as part of the team upholding the school’s vision and values at all times
· Ensure compliance with Arks data protection rules and procedures
· Liaise with colleagues and external contacts at all levels of seniority with confidence, tact and diplomacy
· Work With Ark Central and other academies in the Ark network, to establish good practice throughout the network, offering support where require
