Lead Teacher for English at KS5

Brand-new all-through mixed 4-18 comprehensive in Redbridge.

In September 2012 Isaac Newton Academy opened with its inaugural cohort of 180 year 7 students. The secondary school has grown, year on year, to become an 11-18 academy of 1250 students with specialist status in mathematics and music. In 2014 the primary phase opened, welcoming 90 reception-aged pupils. This too will expand each year until full in 2020.

In June 2014 and  in October 2018, the school was judged to be outstanding in all categories by OFSTED.

We are looking for an enthusiastic English KS5 Lead who is committed to inspiring our students through their love of English literature, and to empowering those students through a mastery of the English language. You will join a highly motivated team, committed to a creative and stimulating approach to teaching and learning, and to instilling in our students, a passion for the subject.

Our ideal candidate will:

• have a tangible passion for English, with the depth and breadth of subject knowledge to allow them to teach to the highest possible standards at KS5
• have prior experience of teaching/leading English at KS5
• demonstrate high levels of ambition and optimism regarding what the academy and its students can achieve
• demonstrate evidence of raising attainment and developing excellence
• be a committed team player
• be committed to Ark’s ethos of high expectations and no excuses
• have the resolve and enthusiasm to make a real difference to the lives of pupils.

Salary:            Ark MPS (£29,064-£41.036) / UPR (£43,078-£46,326) plus TLR 2b.
