We are looking to recruit a Lunchtime Catering Assistant who will be based both in the kitchen and lunchtime area on a rotation basis. Initially the role will centre around maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining hall. The role will also include the supervision of children during lunch breaks, ensuring that the children’s health and safety is maintained at all times. The ideal candidate will have the relevant skills and expertise, excellent inter-personal and organisational skills and be able to follow instructions and make good judgments. You will be joining a committed team of staff who share these common values and are focused on delivering an outstanding education for all our pupils.

The Role
The post holder will provide general support in the kitchen and share responsibility for maintaining a clean, tidy and hygienic environment. When required, they will also supervise the pupils during lunch breaks, ensuring that their health and safety is maintained and lunch breaks are positive, well-managed experiences for them.
Key responsibilities
· To carry out washing up and cleaning tasks, including cleaning equipment and machinery, in accordance with requirements and procedures.
· To keep the kitchen, cooking preparation area, equipment and dining hall clean and tidy
· To supervise pupil movement to ensure all have access to midday meals provision at the correct time and in the correct place
· To interact with pupils to maintain good order and courteous behaviour
· To observe pupil behaviour and intervene when inappropriate behaviour compromises the safety of students
· To ensure pupils keep their eating area clean and tidy

· To undertake various other responsibilities as directed by the line manager

Qualification Criteria
· Right to work in the UK
Experience
· Work experience in an efficient and high quality kitchen environment
· Some experience of cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment to a high standard
· Ideally have experience in a similar role within a school or the education sector

· Highly organised and efficient; capable of multi-tasking and working at pace
